Elements and Performance Criteria
- Apply knowledge of regulations and industry guidelines relevant to working with children
- Source information relating to regulations, organisational policies and procedures, industry guidelines and code of ethics relating to working with children
- Identify key considerations and professional and ethical boundaries associated with working with children
- Follow organisational policy and procedures, relevant regulations and industry guidelines when working with children
- Assess risks for children in a performing arts environment
- Identify and rectify risks and safety issues within own area of responsibility
- Monitor the performing arts environment for potential risks to children
- Report potential or actual risks to children outside of own area of responsibility according to organisational procedures
- Escalate any serious risk or breaches to relevant supervisor in a timely manner
- Assist with monitoring children in a performing arts environment
- Observe and monitor children during program activities to identify emerging issues or problems
- Take action, according to organisational policies and procedures and within area of own responsibility, to ensure positive program outcomes
- Use appropriate language and tone when communicating information to children of different age groups
- Ensure all interactions with children are respectful and observe professional, ethical and community accepted boundaries
- Respond, where appropriate, or report to a supervisor, instances of inappropriate interaction between children or between children and adults
- Respond appropriately to children who report any inappropriate interaction between children or between children and adults
